With today's explosion in digital media, new opportunities for writers are emerging daily. Quincy University's Master of Arts in Writing program trains students from various academic backgrounds and with various interests to be professional writers, imparting the skills necessary for students to market their work and to succeed in these highly competitive fields.
Our program offers a variety of courses in two concentrations to prepare students for success in this ever-changing world. Writers of traditional creative modes can publish their works in many arenas besides traditional print, including online publication, self-publication and print-on-demand services. Writers in professional and technical fields have a wide range of career options, including those in business and corporate communication. Students in our program work closely with their advisors to determine the best concentration and course selections to meet their needs. Courses in our program are offered by faculty members with extensive experience as writers and as teachers of writing.
Quincy University's Master of Arts in Writing program is offered completely online and requires a total of 30 hours beyond the bachelor's degree; all courses carry three credit hours each. Courses are offered in the fall, spring and summer terms. The program can be completed in two years (four semesters plus one summer) but five years are allowed for completion.
Students choose either the Professional Writing or Creative Writing concentration.
If you're seeking a role as an independent commercial writer, the Professional Concentration will prepare you for a career demanding versatility, breadth, and a talent for media integration.
