Requirements for a Minor:
Practicum:
- General requirements for the baccalaureate degree.
- Core courses required for all Political Science majors: POL 200 U.S. Government (to count towards general education only); POL 220, 231, 236, 386, and 497.
- Students must choose one of the following concentrations:
American Politics and Institutions
- Required Political Science courses: POL 260, 310, 316, 330, 363 or 364, and 384 or 385.
- Required support courses: ECO 222, SOC 230, 6 hours of U.S. History.
- 3 hours of practicum credit (POL 480) may count toward the major.
Pre-Law
- Required Political Science courses: POL 260, 261, 262, 263, 264, 363, 364, 480, and two of the following: POL 384, 385, 421. (Only 3 credit hours of Mock Trial can apply toward the degree).
- Required support courses: BUS 215; CRJ 101 and 9 hours chosen from BUS 316, COM 390, CRJ 343, 344, 346, or 347; SOC 230.
International and Comparative Studies
- Required Political Science courses: POL 316, 320, 322, 323, 330, 421.
- Required support courses: ECO 222, SOC 230, 6 hours of non-U.S. History.
- At least one year of a single foreign language is required.
Requirements for a Minor:
- POL 200, 236, 386 plus 9 additional credit hours at the 300-400 level chosen in consultation with a full-time member of the political science faculty.
Practicum:
- POL 480 Practicum in Political Science may be taken only with the consent of one of the full-time members of the political science faculty, approval by the agency involved, and approval by the Dean of the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences.
