Quincy University's 3rd annual QU Cares Food Drive will be held on Sunday, August 19, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. during the university's Welcome Week. Students will visit neighborhoods from 14th – 30th Streets and Locust – State Streets to collect food donations for area food banks. The food drive will support Quincy Catholic Charities, Horizons, Quanada, St. Francis Solanus Parish, and St. John's Lutheran Church. Any member of the Quincy community who would like to donate food but who is not located in the neighborhoods being visited can drop off donations between 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday the 19th at the Hall of Fame Room located in the QU Health and Fitness Center (18th and Oak).
With the generous support of the community, the QU Cares Food Drive was able to raise over 5,000 pounds of food for local pantries last year. The goal for this year's drive is to surpass that amount.
