Quincy Herald-Whig and WGEM Award Grant to Expand QU’s Television Broadcast Program
WGEM and The Quincy Herald-Whig recently awarded $30,000 to the Quincy University Television Broadcast and Video Production program. The donation will enable the university to purchase updated production equipment including high definition cameras and video editing software.
"Our long-term collaboration with WGEM and The Quincy Herald-Whig has been immensely beneficial to QU students," said Barbara Schleppenbach, chair of the Fine Arts & Communication Division. "As our broadcast curriculum continues to grow, this support and affirmation from a recognized community leader inspires and challenges us to offer distinctive and up-to-the minute educational opportunities."
The equipment will be utilized in the Quincy University Television Broadcast Studio, home of QUTV. This internet-based channel, which features a campus news program and sporting events broadcasts, can be found at www.thequtv.com.
Quincy University is currently raising funds to renovate and relocate the television broadcast studio to North Campus. The new studio, including the new equipment, will be available for student use beginning in the fall 2013. For more information, please contact the Office of University Advancement at 217-228-5227.
