QU to Host Mandated Reporter Training

Quincy University will host a Mandated Reporter training workshop for area counselors and educators on November 15th, from 8:30am – 12pm, in the QU Health and Fitness Center Hall of Fame room. This workshop is sponsored by the QU Masters of Education in Counseling Program and the Chi Omega counseling honor society.  Area counselors, educators, or other helping professionals who work with children are encouraged to attend.  Topics to be addressed include: recognizing signs of abuse or neglect, understanding how children make disclosures, how to respond when a child discloses abuse or neglect, and procedures for reporting abuse and neglect.  Current laws for mandated reporters in Illinois and Missouri will also be covered. The workshop will be facilitated by Shandi Joubert-Kanz, a forensic interviewer with the Child Advocacy Center of Northeast Missouri. Continuing education units (CEUs) are available to workshop attendees. Continental breakfast will be provided.
