Quincy University to Host MLK Day of Service

Quincy University’s Office of Multicultural and Leadership Programs will host the third annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on January 18, 2014.

“The MLK Day of Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, bridges barriers, creates solutions to social problems, and moves us closer to Dr. King's vision of a ‘Beloved Community’,” says Calvin Johnson, Director of Multicultural and Leadership programs.  

Approximately 50 QU students are signed up to volunteer at seven participating sites.  Sites include: Madonna House, Quanada, Quincy Animal Shelter, Salvation Thrift Store, YMCA and Alzheimer’s Association.  The event will kick-off at 9:00 a.m. in the Main Dining Room with a continental breakfast.  This event is open to the public.  For additional information, contact the Office of Multicultural and Leadership Programs at (217) 228-5320 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
