QU Announces New Dean of Academic Support Services

williams-teresaTeresa Williams, PhDQuincy University is pleased to announce the appointment of Teresa J. Williams, Ph.D., to the position of Dean of Academic Support Services. Williams will coordinate a unified program of academic support services and assist the vice president of academic affairs with operational matters.

"Dr. Williams has significant experience in every aspect of academic support and wants to help students succeed," said Teresa Reed, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs. "We are fortunate that she has joined our team."

Williams founded and served as president of Shamar Consulting, an agency in Hampton, Va., that provided advice and consultation to organizations to address issues related to diversity, leadership development and organizational effectiveness. She served as acting assistant dean at the School of Liberal Arts at Hampton University and as associate dean for student and external affairs at the University of Richmond.

"I am honored and thrilled to have been selected as the next Dean of Academic Support Services," said Williams. "The office plays an important role in the student academic experience and I look forward to being part of an ambitious future of quality and distinctiveness that will further advance the mission and goals of Quincy University."

Williams holds a Ph.D. from St. Louis University in Higher Education and Educational Leadership. She also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Webster University, where she specialized in multicultural education and a B.A. from Washington University in African and Afro-American Studies.
